Model guide

Why choose Topaz Precision Animation

Key strengths

  • Tuned for the flat colour fields and hard line work that trip up photographic upscalers.
  • Roughly half the cost of the general Precision tier.
  • Keeps line weight consistent instead of thickening edges.

Good fit for

  • Upscaling hand-drawn or cel animation for a larger delivery format.
  • Finishing anime-style generated video at higher resolution.
  • Remastering older animated material held at low resolution.
Engines

Engines in Topaz Precision Animation

This model is a price tier: every engine below costs the same, so the choice is about the source, not the budget. Pick one in Generate under the model; leaving it unset uses the first.

  • Gaia 2 (Animation) - Topaz's animation model, tuned for the flat colour fields and hard line work of hand-drawn and cel animation. Keeps line weight constant instead of thickening edges. Scales up to exactly 2x, so the targets offered are the ones your source can reach - a 480p clip upscales to 960p.

Best results

How to get better Topaz Precision Animation results

  • Use this rather than Precision for anything drawn - the photographic engines soften line art.
  • Check that flat colour regions stay flat and have not picked up texture.
  • Inspect thin outlines and subtitles at full size before approving.
Limits

Limits and availability

  • Choose a target above the source resolution: 720p, 960p, 1080p, 2K, 4K, 8K.
  • Maximum source length is 300 seconds, and shorter at the highest targets.
  • Any frame rate is accepted. Billing is per delivered frame, so a 60 FPS source costs twice a 30 FPS one of the same length.
  • Direct uploads are limited to 256 MiB; generated MachGen videos can be selected from Assets or a completed TaskCard.
  • Current rates come from the live MachGen pricebook.
  • Topaz Precision Animation is pass-through. MachGen sends the request through its upstream provider integration and returns the generated asset.
